OGALLALA, NE.  Our itinerary has brought us to the scorching Midwest, and our back air conditioner seems to have quit working.  Now we are without AC in a hot, miserable place.

I am seated at the picnic table outside waiting for the sun to go completely down.  We ordered pizza to be delivered for supper in order to limit the heat indoors.  If the bugs keep away from us, we can make it through the night alright.  It got pretty hot inside while driving the last few miles today.

In a few days we pick up the new squirrel cage fan for the front AC unit and I shall be tempted to install it myself, since the heat wave is forecast to continue for many days.  Contemplate the irony of leaving Florida to escape the heat only to roast in the Midwest on the eve of autumn.  One can only hope that the Northeast will be cooler.

UPDATE:  I have gotten the back AC unit to start.  It is in the bedroom, so if it continues to work, that will make for a much more pleasant night.
