NEWLAND, NC.  Technically, this campground is in Pineola, NC, but the general area is referred to as Newland.  The weather was clear the day we arrived, Tuesday, as well as Wednesday.  We went shopping in Boone on Wednesday, then attended Wednesday night Bible study and prayer meeting at the local PCA church, Fellowship Presbyterian Church in nearby Crossnore.  Late Wednesday night the hard rain began and is still going today, Thursday.  I thus am using the time to update this blog.

As you can see in the photo below, the campsite is beautiful and spacious, unlike our site back at Mama Guerties.  Most of the sites here are "owned" by permanent seasonal residents.  Permanent elaborate wooden porches and terraces grace many of them, which stand alone when the season ends in October when the RVs head back home, and home for quite a few is Florida.  Driving through the campground one sees many Florida license tags.  For many years, this has been seasonal home to "campers," and quite a few of those sites have been replaced by motorhome-sized cottages, so they can travel here by car without any RV.

Saturday will be the only clear day forecast before we leave here for Lookout Mountain, Georgia on Tuesday to visit with friends who live there.
