SUMMERTON, SC.  Drove about four hours to get to I-95.  Stayed at a beautiful location on Lake Marion, the largest man-made lake east of the Mississippi.  This is another case where a large village was flooded to form a lake with a hydroelectric utility.  Apparently one can scuba dive down to see what remains of the village, replete with cemetery.

The lake is named after Francis Marion, the Swamp Fox of Revolutionary War fame.  Battles with the British were fought on this site.

It was a clear cool day, but we had no internet, so I am writing this the following day south of Savannah.
