STAUNTON, VA.  It was a short drive to the Walnut Hills Campground & RV Park.  This whole area of Virginia has a lot of walnut trees.  We saw a forest of them at a rest area along I-81, and this campground has walnuts all over the ground.  These walnuts look nothing like what you find in stores where bags of nuts are sold.  These are much larger green balls that become soft after lying on the ground, where they rot and decompose.  They tell me that inside these things hide what really looks like a walnut.

We have a nice site overlooking the lake and lower grounds.  It was quite a drive to get up here, reminding us that our motorhome, at under 35 feet long, is as long as we want.  The site required putting wooden blocks under one wheel to level it, but eventually we got settled.

Tomorrow we plan to continue the exploration of Skyline Drive that we began last night.
